What is Stream Direct? This software service and product was launched back in 2009 by Certo Business Solutions B.V. which is based in Barbados. The service is located at Streamdirect-tvpc.com and helps deliver over 4,500 TV & radio channels, videos, and music to your PC. There are no hosted videos or TV streams on their website. Instead, they provide an easier access point to these streams which are available over the web for free when searching for them.

All channel names, content, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners, not Stream Direct TV. The service isn’t affiliated with any of the free media and they don’t claim to be affiliated with any of the owners or providers of videos and TV streams which are accessible through their site.

This also means the service isn’t affiliated with Direct TV and doesn’t allow you to watch any paid or subscription television services. You are only able to access public or OTA (over the air) channels that are streamed across the web.

Is Stream Direct Any Good, Legit, Legal? This service does not hack or compromise any satellite or cable service provider, and does not decode or descramble any television service. Stream Direct TV also doesn’t include any P2P (Peer-to-Peer) websites which are known to have some copyrighted videos and music, so the service itself is legal from that standpoint.

However, there may be some gray areas where things are not quite conclusive when linking to other websites that may be linking to some illegal media. Is Stream Direct a Scam? Some say yes but I say no. However, this doesn’t mean that some complaints aren’t valid. Just remember products and services usually upgrade and improve their shortcomings so if you search and find some complaints, which is likely with these types of products, make note of the date the complaint was made when making your assessment. Channel List & Picture Quality. Again the 3-day trial is the best way to see all the available channels for each country. There are 100’s of countries and thousands of channels in the entire package – just too many for me to count. I randomly selected channels and for the most part many worked. The Stream Direct TV player will update channels automatically when the service updates its database which also removes broken channel links.

   

Also, when going through my Stream Direct review I notice a good portion of channels had a good to very good picture quality, and even DVD-like quality. However, there are some shortcomings to this which I explain further in my pros and cons. See Fox News below – it’s in Full Screen and one of many channels that has good picture quality.

As advertised, you do get access to Stream TV Shows, Extreme Entertainment, Stream Great Movies, Stream Hot Music, Stream Live Sports, Stream Live News & Business and entertainment for mature audiences (adults 18 & over) which is not advertised.

Some channels will have a window of time when they are available, or may take a while to start streaming. The delay is normally within 20 seconds but can last 1-2 minutes. If the channel you want isn’t currently available, you should exit the software or refresh the web-based media browser containing the channel listings.

StreamDirect TV Player. During the Stream Direct TV Review of the player, my gut instincts (based on tests from similar products) led me to believe the outcome might not be too favorable — given the fact that this player was developed by Stream Direct TV. All of these services tend to mirror one another when developing their own TV player. Many of them have more channels that don’t work, poor selection of shows, and sub-par picture quality for the most part but still view-able.

However, I was delighted with the interfacing of this player during my Stream Direct TV review. The technology seems better, fast buffering and loading of channels which played fairly quickly when using a DSL broadband connection. The picture quality is considerably better as well as the channel selections.

Some channels didn’t play at the time which probably relates to different time zones from my own. When this happens usually you can play and watch them at a later time. The user-friendly console makes it extremely easy to maneuver around and I had no problem finding channels that are organized by their respective country.

By the way, some channels when clicking them to watch a show will automatically open in a browser for you watch the show there. This is something new as I never experienced any player with this type of function, which clearly shows why StreamDir offers a better selection of channels as they try to separate itself from the rest. Feature Enhancements (8 icons). Play, Live TV, Satellite Radio, Favorites, Full Screen, Music On-Demand, Video on Demand, and Record. Also, if you right click a channel in the left panel, a window pops up with a menu that lets you Add to Favorites and Update/Rate Channel. The Full Screen only works when a channel plays and will be disabled when there’s another 3rd party TV player embedded inside the Stream Direct TV player screen (you will use that player’s Full Screen feature instead).

Pros: As you can clearly see, there are many perks to using this service/product. There’s so much here that I simply couldn’t mention everything – already this review is very long. But the one thing that you can put to rest is the fact that there are more pros than cons.

Cons: When it comes to linking methods that all of these Internet TV Services like these employ, some of the common issues can’t be avoided such as some channels, out of thousands, coming and going. This can stem from broken links, temporary downtimes because channels are coming from different time zones than your own, which in this case you have to try to play the channel a later time.

Also, there will be times when the picture is somewhat blurry but viewable and ‘choppy’ video may occur at times. Here are some of the other cons I discovered when conducting my Stream Direct TV Review:
