American TV Channels Online

How to Watch American TV Shows Online and Overseas

Get Access to Live, Local, Premium & Recorded USA Channels from Popular TV Networks Living in or Outside the US

The best way to watch all your American TV channels online is through an IPTV service provider. Why? One good reason is the cost compared to the high cost of cable TV. You will pay far less which means more savings in your pocket. Does this mean less quality and fewer channels? No, what it means is you can have your cake and eat it too.

If You Are in a Hurry to Watch USA Channels (Living In or Outside the US) – Click Here. Otherwise, you can go to the list of IPTVs further down. I suggest you read everything before you do.

Another good reason is you get many premium channels from many popular TV networks, many of which are found on cable TV. Local TV channels are included also but you won’t get all the local channels from your city.  You don’t have to rely on an IPTV service for local channels. Either buy an indoor HDTV TV antenna or sign up for a free streaming local TV service–if living in the US.

No one service will have every American channel but there is plenty of them to enjoy via IPTV provider. Another upside is you can watch American TV overseas without a VPN service. If you don’t know what is a VPN service – Click Here. But don’t worry you don’t need one. You can also watch TV channels from other countries online as well.  But if you only want to watch American TV shows online, you can certainly do that but you get everything else with it.

Recording/DVR

Depending on the IPTV service you choose, there are CatchUp TV channels included. The service, not you, does all the recording of popular TV networks. You can watch American TV shows online already recorded/DVR for you. They do this over a 7-day period that will refresh from time to time. Simply scroll through the TV network names, and choose the day of the week, time, and TV show to watch it.

You can check to see which IPTV service comes with CatchUp when visiting our Top 10 IPTV Comparison Chart HERE.

USA Channels Online – Live Sports/PPV Events

Besides watching American channels, live US sports channels from popular TV networks are available to watch. Sports from other countries are included as well. You can watch all your local American teams play such as NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, College, etc. Another perk you get is PPV Events which lets you catch all the fights including special events.

You get all the streaming content mentioned to watch American TV overseas regardless of where you are in the world. A VPN service cannot be used with the IPTVs I listed below. However, I am not from your country so you will need to test the IPTV trial to see if those channels work. They say you can watch from any place in the world. You just need an Internet connection and streaming device which I’ll go more into this soon.

What else is included?…

An EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) is included which is a TV guide. You can program a category of live channels to appear in the EPG first such as all American channels. But I only test this with the Amazon Firestick. Also included are on-demand movies and TV series –thousands of them. Watch old/recent movies including new releases or your favorite TV series with all the episodes included. You can watch TV from other countries online across multiple devices at one time.

What’s Needed?…

4 Things Needed:

  1. High-Speed Internet connection: You should have 30 Mbps (download speed), preferably higher. The higher the speed better the overall performance.
  2. Streaming Device: This would include a smart TV with an internal app store, HDTV, or Android TV with an HDMI port. That’s if you want to watch everything on a larger screen. Other compatible devices can include Windows/Mac computers, Android devices, iOS devices, tablets, NVIDIA Shield, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Devices (TV/Stick/Cube), or Mag Box. Smart TVs and HDTVs without an internal app store require a streaming media device–see the list below.
  3. TV App: Either the IPTV service will have its own app or use a 3rd-party app. The app does not deliver live and on-demand streaming content. When installed on a compatible device the app must be activated via activation/login credentials that come from the IPTV service. The app connects to the IPTV service where the live/on-demand streaming content comes from.
  4. IPTV Service Provider: They provide all the streaming content for you to watch online. This includes live, local, and premium channels from different countries as well as on-demand movies and TV series. Depending on the IPTV service chosen, CatchUp TV will be included also. However, all recordings will be done by the IPTV service, not you.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s continue…

How to Watch American TV Abroad Online

By far the easiest way to get access to over 500 live channels and 1000s of on-demand movies/TV series is an IPTV Service Provider.

The IPTV services I recommended below all have IP Lock which means you can only use a mobile device outside your IP address. A mobile device is a smartphone. Some IPTVs allow a tablet also.  So this means you cannot use any other device outside your primary residence where your IP is located. You cannot share your IPTV account with others or use the IPTV service when visiting another person who has a different IP address.

We’re breaking down what devices you can use soon. As you can see it doesn’t take much to get set up. The main thing is having enough Internet connection speed. Having 30 Mbps or higher would be ideal. Using an indoor HDTV antenna will not allow you to watch American TV shows online when from another country outside the USA.

Unfortunately, the streaming local TV service I told you about earlier is restricted to US residents only. So you are pretty much reliant on IPTV services that offer some local channels but more premium channels. There are many channels to watch US channels overseas.

Compatible Devices

Streaming devices that can be used…

  • Smart TV w/ internal app store
  • HDTV/Smart TV w/o internal app store – must use a streaming device below…
  • Amazon Firestick/Fire TV/Cube
  • NVIDIA Shield
  • Mag Box
  • Apple TV
  • iOS devices
  • Android devices
  • Computer (Windows & Mac)

I provided a list of IPTV services below that use a 3rd-party app. You can use 2 or more devices at one time depending on the IPTV you choose USA TV channels online or watch American TV overseas.

Getting Started

It’s time now to choose an IPTV service provider below, many of which are similar. Some have reviews you can read and a video review that takes you inside to see further. We are giving you 5 IPTVs to choose from. Don’t get yourself hungover on which one to choose. All of them come with trials which I highly suggest you enter into the trial first. This will allow you to test everything on your compatible streaming device.

If you want to watch everything on your HDTV or Smart TV, the best device to use is the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Why? It’s the cheapest and most powerful. It works great with IPTV services and comes with the Alexa Voice including a remote. I also included IPTV providers that use an app for smart TVs with/ internal app stores.
