Review of Satellite Direct for TV/VOD Online: Now Under New Ownership/Management

The Web TV Guy provides a quick overview of Satellite Direct, a 3rd-party Web-based TV/VOD service to watch TV online. The video covers many of the features, benefits, as well as pros and cons. Considered one of the grandfather web TV services, Satellite Direct continues to cater to TV viewers of all sorts.

Was once the most popular service of its kind but problematic issues caused many complaints and scam reports over the years. Satellite Direct did away with the TV software technology to help resolve complaints. They came out with a web-based platform but past complaints did enough damage that caused them to get out of the industry.

As a result, SatelliteDirect is now under a new ownership and management. This new regime improved the web-based platform and made it more appealing and easier to use. However, the content once delivered by the old regime was very entertaining when things were working. The new Satellite Direct has more on-demand content than live TV — not quite as entertaining.

They trimmed down a lot of the premium TV channels/networks that were delivered in the past. There are no more movies from live TV channels, only VOD movies and TV shows. Live sports is not one of the pluses anymore but they do direct-connect to sports and news broadcasts, mostly on-demand. Many countries are included but a number of countries have very low number of channels.

This not to say Satellite Direct gets a thumbs down. The new service made it more legit (less copyrighted content) which takes away a lot of entertaining content it once had. Still this service/product could be worth a try. Watch the video to see what is needed to use this platform.

Lynn says:

I do not want to watch tv on a computer, phone or I pad. I want to watch on my 60 inch HD flat screen. I have a Sony web based HD DVD player that I can access Netflix, Crackle and other streaming services on this TV.
Question, will Sattelite Direct work wth that device, if so, how to get the service to show up on the Sony device Menue?

Email me the answer, not going to hang around on this site hoping and waiting for an answer. Best wishes!
